Quick and easy make snack for any time. Cabbage pakora can be deep fried in oil as it is usually made or the healthier way in air fryer. I made the air fryer version this afternoon to go with Bisebele bath.
Ingredients:
3 Cups shredded green cabbage
2 teaspoons red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida (optional)
1/2 Cup chickpea flour (besan)
1/2 Cup rice flour
1/4 Cup corn flour
1/4 Cup hot oil
Method:
1. Place shredded cabbage in a large bowl.
2. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, asafoetida , and salt. Squeeze and mix well with hand. It would release some moisture.
3. Add the flours. Mix well.
4. Add 1/4 cup hot oil (you can use the oil this is being used for deep frying).
5. Mix thoroughly, adding little water if required.
6. Shape the mixture with your hands and gently drop them in hot oil and deep fry until crisp and golden brown. Repeat process with remaining mixture. Serve with green chutney or ketchup or just plain.
Notes:
Guilt free version of this recipe could be made in air fryer.
Air fry the mixture at 370 in batches until golden brown, for 10- 12 minutes.
Tried the guilt-free air-fryer version. Didn't expect that a bland veggie like cabbage to add a nice crunch to the pakora.
